This resource is a Protein Pathway Activity for AP Biology – Unit 2.2 (Cell Structure and Function).

AP Biology: SYI-1.E Explain how subcellular components and organelles contribute to the function of the cell.

With this activity, students will use the eukaryotic cell diagram on the sheet to outline and suggest the pathway of protein from its production to being secreted by the cell.

Students will draw each subcellular component and organelles that contribute to the process and use arrows to show how the protein moves from one component to another.

After drawing, students will write a short description of the protein pathway, including the names and functions of the various subcellular components and organelles involved.

This activity can be done as classwork, homework, an assessment, or as a review task.
